Movie Review – The Gentlemen

We're obviously early in, but I already have my favorite film of 2020 thus far. I LOVE a character driven story, and Guy Ritchie is a filmmaker that really shines when he does these kinds of films.'Lock,...

Let’s take a closer look at how color saturation and other features in Photoshop might have been used to spawn the latest Presidential meme. If any of you are interested in an orange face you can pick up...

Presidential Medal of Fraud

In the ’90s, I used to listen to Rush Limbaugh every day at noon on 96.5 WWDB.

I won’t say that I ever admired Rush, but I didn’t disagree with him about much at the time.

I was in my very early 20’s then and had a very rudimentary understanding of things. I hadn’t experienced much…life…and so my viewpoint was myopic to say the least.

As I got older and a bit more educated about things; as I learned that things aren’t as black and white as talking heads would have us believe, and that there’s actually nuance and shades of grey to things, I recognized him for what he was – the worst kind of propagandist catering in turn to the very the worst oversimplified ideologies of the Republican Party.

But I also noticed something else even more despicable.

This man, this ‘brilliant Conservative voice’, never once allowed himself to be challenged by an opposing voice in guest form, in caller form, or on anyone else’s show.
He never sat on a round table discussion.
He never held a debate.
Nothing.

Instead, Rush hid himself away “high atop the tower of the EIB network” where Bo Snerdley meticulously screened his calls to make sure no ‘challengers’ got through, but instead a cavalcade of sycophants who eagerly waited to parrot “MEGA DITTOS, RUSH!”, were the symphony that us listeners would be lulled into a tunnel vision trance by.
And if a challenger did manage to somehow get past screening, they’d simply be yelled over and quickly dumped out of.

Rush Limbaugh is the equivalent to a man that’s declared himself the unified, undisputed champion, while never actually having fought a bout.

And last night, Donald Trump and The Republican Party put a belt on him.

It’s been said that we live in a moment in time where if you ask a person where they stand on one issue, you will know where they stand on all issues.
This isn’t because they’re actually exercising critical thought about how they personally feel about things, it’s because they’ve been indoctrinated into the cult of their chosen cloth.
They’re repeating what they’ve been trained to repeat and nothing more.

Rush Limbaugh is one of the earliest Pied Piper’s that brought us to this moment of 24 hour, party driven ‘news’ networks.
He’s a trailblazer that way.

It’s up to you whether or not you see a strategically unchallenged, hypocritical, divisive propagandist, who has repeatedly said patently racist things as a great thinker worthy of the Presidential Medal Of Freedom.

I don’t much care about this Medal one way or the other, but watching people celebrate it being awarded to Rush…well I’ll just leave it at this…
The Presidential Medal Of Freedom is awarded to individuals who have made an especially meritorious contribution to the security or national interests of the United States, world peace, cultural or other significant public or private endeavors.

If you think Rush Limbaugh qualifies here, tell 22 year old me that I said ‘Hi!’ and to invest everything he has in Apple.

Podcast Review – Your Own Backyard

So I eventually landed on this podcast today. It's the story of the disappearance and clear murder of Kristin Smart in 1996. Now, it's rather infuriating because it's abundantly clear who killed her, but...

Shamokin Must Be a MAGICAL Place to Live

This was JUST brought to my attention last night, but you may have seen it before. Imagine a town so bereft of anything culturally relevant, that a Dunkin' DoNITS being temporarily closed could cause this...
