Another 80’s Pedo Movie You Might Not Remember

So yesterday while I was laying in bed being a do nothing, I watched 1987’s ‘Hiding Out’ with Jon Cryer, Keith Coogan, and Annabeth Gish.

Couple of things…

I’m surprised more wasn’t made of the film around here back then, since he’s supposedly hiding out in Delaware.
I mean, it’s NOT Delaware…it’s actually Wilmington, N.C., but still.
You people still won’t STFU about Valarie Bertanelli being from Claymont, but you never mentioned that Duckie was in a movie that was supposed to be happening in Delaware?

Secondly…
This movie would NEVER…..EEEEVVVVER (wrasslin’ fans just read that in Chris Jericho’s voice) work today.

In the film, Cryer plays a stockbroker who was unknowingly laundering money for a crime boss, and now has to go on the run from hitmen who want to kill him before he can testify, so he decides that the best way to hide is pretending to be a high school student.

He’s supposed to be somewhere between the ages of 27 and 32, but dyes the sides of his hair blonde, takes on the look of someone who would have had Echo and The Bunnymen posters on his wall, and voila….passes for a senior.

The problem is…he falls in love with an actual high school senior played by Annabeth Gish.

PEDO, WILL ROBINSON!!! PEDO, WILL ROBINSON!!! DANGER! DANGER!!

Now, the film resolves this issue by having him wait until she’s 18 and in college to fully pursue the relationship, but that still showcases a 30 year old essentially dicking down a teenager, and defintely MeToos the fuck out of this film by 2019 standards.

But maybe they waited until she was 20. Or maybe he had no game and he never closed the deal.
I don’t know, I wasn’t there.

I’m just telling you why I think you don’t hear much about this film like other ’80s teen films.
Well I mean…that, and that it wasn’t very good.

So I eventually landed on this podcast today. It's the story of the disappearance and clear murder of Kristin Smart in 1996. Now, it's rather infuriating because it's abundantly clear who killed her, but...
